Becky Reamey, a 2007-2008 Blackburn fellow, became the Blackburn Institute’s coordinator in June of 2007. As coordinator, Becky works closely with student fellows in developing the yearly curriculum and planning events designed to further the Institute’s mission. Becky’s goal is to ensure the Institute’s vision continues with the fellows beyond their time at U.A. and extends into their personal as well as professional lives.
Becky is currently working to complete her Ph.D. in higher education administration at The University of Alabama. She spent the past year as a graduate assistant in U.A.’s Office of Student Affairs. Becky has also served as an adjunct professor at U.A.B. and Samford University where she taught courses in communication and public speaking. Becky’s interest in public service led her to internships in the White House with the Presidential Personnel Boards and Commission as well as with Senator Richard Shelby. Becky also held a professional staff position with the Bob Riley for Governor Campaign in 2001-2002. From 2002 to 2005, she worked in marketing with Regions Morgan Keegan Trust.
Becky received her B.A. in Public Relations from The University of Alabama where she was a member of XXXI, leadership chair of the Coordinating Council for Student Organizations, and served on the SGA. She has also earned a master’s degree in Communication Management from U.A.B. Becky and her husband Nathan, a 2000-2001 Blackburn fellow, currently live in Birmingham.
