Class of 1999 – 2000

Vance Ballard Graduated from The University of Alabama in 2000 with a degree in Engineering and in 2002 with an executive MBA degree. He worked for U.S. Steel from 2000-2004 as a maintenance manager from 2000-2003 and as a sales/marketing manager from 2003-2004. He is director of volunteering for the Bush/Cheney Campaign 2004. While at the University, he was an SGA senator, President of ACE, President of ASPE, a cheerleader, treasurer of ASME, and a member of Theta Tau.


Mark Hampton Baxley Hampton is a 2001 graduate of the Alabama School of Law and a 1993 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College. He is currently the managing partner of the law firm of Ramsey, Baxley & McDougle, located in Dothan, Alabama. Hamp served as President of the Houston County Bar Association in 2006 and is a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (Young Lawyer’s Section Vice President). Hamp also serves on the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (2007 Executive Committee) and as an officer in numerous organizations representing a multitude of charities and philanthropic causes. Hamp’s primary focus in his community has been enhancing the public education system in Dothan along with developing Dothan’s downtown area, community aesthetics and new recreation and quality of life facilities for Dothan residents. Mr. Baxley is married and enjoys competing in triathlons, fishing, hunting, golf and assisting in political campaigns in his spare time.


Jamey Boozer Graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a Master's in Communication. Jamey now works at CitiGroup's Corporate Headquarters in Dallas, TX. He also teaches Interpersonal Communication two nights a week at Mountain View College. Recently, Jamey purchased a home with the plans to stay in Dallas and further his career. However, he routinely makes his way back to Tuscaloosa or somewhere around the SEC to take in a Bama game. He says the only bad thing about living in Texas is not being able to watch Bama on TV!


Joe Brown Dr. Joe Brown is an assistant professor in New College and Biological sciences at the University of Alabama.


Marty Bryant Lives in Tuscaloosa.


Kami Butler Lives in Atlanta.


Crystal Edwards Lives in Marietta, Georgia.


Wendy Fykes Graduated from the University of North Florida with an MBA in 2005. Currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida and works as a Valuation Analyst with a small business advisory firm Sheldrick, McGehee & Kohler, LLC.


Vincent Graffeo V. J. currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama and is practicing law with the firm Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, where he handles primarily commercial, complex and securities litigation matters. V. J. graduated from UA in 2000 with a B.A. and obtained his J.D., in 2003, from the University of Alabama School of Law. V. J. is active in various bar associations and has served on the Executive Committee for the Birmingham Bar Association Young Lawyers' Section since 2005. In addition to participating in University of Alabama alumni activities, V. J. is also involved in the Birmingham Rotaract Club and the Jr. Patrons of the Birmingham Museum of Art, having served on both boards of directors.


Nancy Boyd Graves Nancy and her husband, Derrick Graves, currently reside in Tuscaloosa where Nancy teaches gymnastics at the Coliseum. Before returning to Tuscaloosa, Nancy worked for the City of Montgomery as the Assistant Director at Capital Heights Community Center. She also volunteers with the YMCA’s Youth In Government programs designed to foster learning and achievement for the Alabama’s future leaders.


Chris Holoman Lives in Roswell, Georgia.


Fanicy Hunter Received her B.S. in Early Childhood Development. While at UA, she accepted a position as a Variety Director for University Programs. After graduating, Fanicy began volunteering with the Corporation for National Service's AmericCorps VISTA program. As a VISTA volunteer, she continued to plan and facilitate special events for organizations such as Big Brothers & Big Sisters of West Alabama and the YWCA of Downtown Birmingham. Since then, Fanicy has worked with the Department of Labor's Youth Opportunity Grant through the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Central Alabama. She currently serves as an Activity Specialist for Birmingham Works for Youth (A United Way Agency). Fanicy is also in the process of forming a Fine Arts Foundation called AGC Theatre & Dance.


Lauren Lambert Lives in Huntsville, Alabama.


Scott Levy Scott is currently working as a Manager with Deloitte in the Tax Management Advisory Services practice and also has his CPA license. He focuses on assisting the tax function of corporations undergoing finance transformations or new ERP systems integrations to ensure the tax requirements are defined and included in the new design. Scott lives in Atlanta, but is enjoying opportunities to travel domestically and internationally with work assignments.


Joanne McCrary Brasseal Lives in Birmingham, Alabama. She recently married Brian Brasseal, also graduate from the University of Alabama. Joanne works for Southern Progress, where she is an Editor for Cooking Light magazine.


strong>Stephen Miles After graduating from The University of Alabama, Stephen received his law degree from Tulane University Law School, where he graduated first in his class, served as an Articles Editor for the Tulane Law Review, and was selected as a member of Order of the Coif. Stephen then clerked for The Honorable Edith Brown Clement, United States Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is currently an attorney with the New Orleans firm of Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, L.L.C. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation.

Benita Newton Benita passed away in 2005 while working at The Virginia-Pilot. Received her B.A. in Journalism from UA. Then, she received an MBA with a Marketing concentration in May 2003.


T. Michelle Parks Lives in Montgomery, Alabama.


Tracie Ransom Graduated from The University of Illinois College of Law on May 15, 2004. Practicing commercial litigation with the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur in Columbus, Ohio.


Clemens Reimer Lives in Helmstedt, Germany.


Cedrick Rembert Works for Southern Company.


Julie Koeppe Smith Graduated from UA in 2000 with a degree in Communication Disorders. She attended graduate school at the University of Cincinnati, where she received her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology. Julie married Walt Smith in 2002, and headed back to Birmingham to work for United Cerebral Palsy. She recently moved back to Tuscaloosa, where her husband joined a dental practice in the Hillcrest area. Julie is now taking care of her new son Trey.


Meredith Riley Stewart Living in Philadelphia with her husband, Bert Stewart, is currently performing with the Jeanne Ruddy Dance Company throughout the Northeast. She is also working at the Main Line YMCA as a personal trainer and weight management consultant.


Anna Stokes Sullins Received a Master's degree in Communication Studies from UA in December of 2001. She works for Brasfield & Gorrie, L.L.C. in Birmingham in Corporate Training. Anna is married to Greg Sullins, also a graduate of UA.


Andrew Thornley


Leona Watt Graduated from the University of Alabama in 2001 with a BA in Criminal Justice. Received a Masters degree in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany in 2003. She currently works for the State of Vermont as a Correctional Services Specialist. She lives in Claremont, New Hampshire.


Joshua Wharton Lives in Arab, Alabama.


Jennifer Cooke White Currently in her second year of residency in family medicine in Tuscaloosa. Jennifer and her husband plan on opening a practice in Scottsboro, AL in 2007 when they have finished residency.


Melissa Wyllie Lives in Port Charlotte, Florida.
