Latasha McCrary graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2008. Since passing the bar in the summer of 2008, she has organized "Love Your Neighbor Week" for the Huntsville-Madison County area. She brought together businesses, the media, and other organizations in this endeavor. The event raised money for First Stop Homeless Shelter and CASA (Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound of Madison County). She also had her first scholarly article published in the International Journal of Punishment and Sentencing. The article is entitled: "Grassroots Drug Court Policies have Significant Impact on Rural Blacks: Alabama's Ongoing Problem of Equal Protection Under the Law." While at UA, her activities included:
